December 29, 2009

{We said good-bye today..}

Mr. Bigglesworth (to some known as Thor) entered our family just about a year ago. I didn't want a cat. D is allergic, we already had 2 dogs, and a snake. That was 1 animal too many for me (that 1 being the snake lol). Besides that, I was not (and never will be) over the loss of my beloved Suzuki 8yrs ago. I had no intentions of having another feline. Ever. But when D's friend called us with his dilemma the animal lover in me far out weighed the pain I still held for Suzi. "His ex-wife left him in the cold when she moved out." D had said. "Why can't J keep him? He already has a house full of cats." I said. "He's not getting along with his other males. He needs a good home." I sighed D knew he'd won by the look on my face. We went to wal-mart and picked up a litter box and food bowl and food. I informed him that if this didn't work out, he was shit out of luck. We were not re-homing another animal because he wasn't getting along with the dogs or what not. He was ours. Forever.

I tried hard not to get too attached to him. Which he made difficult since he insisted on curling up with me every single night. He was cared for, loved, and wanted. The kids loved him, chased him and "tormented" him to the best of their ability. I often found him snuggled up with the Drama Queen all purring and content.

All seemed fine until a couple months ago. Something changed in him. He became distant, our once loving cat wanted nothing to do with us. He hid in our back bathroom until everyone was asleep and then roamed the house at night. He began pooping on the floor, unlike a cat, his hair started falling out. I'd never seen anything like it. His overall health was failing, we didn't know what was wrong and couldn't afford the vet visit knowing that he would end up telling us it was something serious, we could already tell.

We chose to put him down. Something I have never done to an animal. Something I never want to go through again.

Oh my Mr. Big. You shall be missed. :(

December 27, 2009

{Oh yes, the Christmas post}

Yes, I do realize I'm a few days late, you'll have to deal with it. I've been some kind of funk lately and no matter what I do nothing is pulling me out of it. Perhaps it was the mini drama we had on Christmas morning (nothing I'm going to post about here, if I want you to know I'll tell you lol). It could also be that I'm just bummed it's all over and we have to move on with pretty much nothing to look forward to. *sigh* So sad. Anyway- lets get on with it shall we?

I hosted Christmas Eve dinner with my mother, her fiance (his 2 younger kids were supposed to come and didn't), my sister, BIL, and monkey. My brother and his girlfriend showed up late (because apparently no one pays attention to my facebook messages right?)..losers. It was a good time. The food was super yummy if I do say so myself (and since I made it, I can lol).

Christmas morning was eventful. I won't even bother typing any more because I know you just want the pictures. You'll love them :).
The drama queen and bug having a sword fight!

G ripping into his stocking!

Shoop! Mama Shoop!!

Police Helicopter!!

Mommy and Bug at the farm! I think he's finally starting to look like me lol.

That gun was a huge hit!

Bug got a 4wheeler from grandma.

Make-up is the new obsession.

There you go kids. Pics. You know you love 'em. And I'm probably going to take down my tree tomorrow. Sad huh?

Oh! And G's birthday is Wednesday! When did my little baby get to be a whole 7yrs old?? *sigh*

{My Crafty Kids or Ornament Making with Small People}

And so it begins..

My creative little (almost) 7yr old.

Even Bug got to help out :)

The drama queen making herself a candy cane.

G made a cross for my mom, a tree for my grandmother, and a cowboy boot to be his ornament for this year. The drama queen made a candy cane for her ornament this year and a hear covered in red dots for her grandma. Bug just made a teddy bear for this year because he lost interest about 5min. in lol. They came out cute though and I'm excited to varnish them and pass them out. Loves it!

Oh, and D just banished me from the bedroom so that he could wrap more gifts for me. I kinda feel like crap now because I have no way of getting him something that he really wants. I went and got him some PJ pants last night that he had been asking for. I have to wonder what's in the boxes, there are 4 total, 2 small, 1 large, and 1 medium. He says they're breakable but I dunno. He could just be saying that to deter me from shaking them lol. Blah. We'll see in a couple days I guess.

December 21, 2009

{What? Christmas is When??}

That's right folks, just a few shopping days left to Christmas! Exciting stuff! We still aren't done, we won't be until D gets paid on Wed. Oh well, I'm sure there will be something left on wal-marts' shelves..right? Lets all cross our fingers shall we? I am 1/3 done with my shopping however. I got my 11yr old step-sister a cupcake kit for Christmas. I'm super excited about it! LOL I even called my mom before I got home with it to tell her all about it. I put it together myself courtesy of Dollar Tree, there is a plastic mixing bowl (red), measuring cups, measuring spoons, cupcake tin, 1 oven mitt (with Santa on it), 1 apron (matches the mitt), and 1 cake mix. I'm very excited to see if she likes it as much as I do lol. I was going to go to Dollar General (my 2nd favorite store after becoming a mother) to get my 7yr old step-brother a gift and a gift for Monkey, but I think I'll go back to Dollar Tree and see what I can come up with. I also bought D some PJ pants because I stole all of his because he asked for them. I am pretty happy with my purchases today :). Oh, I also got my hair chopped off too (pics to come tomorrow..cause I look a hot mess tonight). D hates it..again. I suppose he'll live though considering it is my hair. He has yet to figure this out.

I have also finished wrapping the gifts that we do have. Gotta love that. They are stuffed under our bed so the nosy ones can't find them *sigh*. I tell you what though, I'm more excited about G's birthday gift than any of his Christmas gifts. I just can't friggin' wait! Yay! He's gonna freak out! *teehehe*

I also purchased the last of my Christmas dinner today. I'm happy about that. I got a big 'ol ham that I'm going to roll in syrup and brown sugar *drools*. So that completes the Christmas dinner buying, thank heaven. I'm so over it. I do have enough left over to buy some "fresh" veggies for appetizers/munchies. If it's not all ready when people get here I don't want them sitting there starving while it cooks, ya know? It makes me crazy to wait for food at a holiday party..or anywhere really lol.

For those that commented on my good-bye to my great-mother entry. Thank you. I am super sad that we lost her, but I know she is in such a better place now. I know she's going to be horribly missed.

Alrighty- I better get off here and get some sleep. I picked up G from my grandmothers house today and promised him that we're going to do our ornaments tomorrow as gifts for my grandparents and my mother. I also have to get to wal-mart tomorrow or Wed. and get the pictures printed off that I want to give everyone for Christmas. Blah. Busy days. Later kids!!

{What is it with boys??}

When D and I were talking the other day and trying to figure out how to make a little more room in our tiny living room (especially since we have a bunch of people coming over for Christmas Eve) we decided that our falling apart coffee table needed to go. Of course in true D fashion he couldn't just take it to a dump or something, he had to smash it first. And of course G was right in the middle of it, wielding his little hammer and loving every second of getting to cause all that destruction! And of course we all know I can't let a moment pass without breaking out the camera ;).

In mid-jump!

Dad showing him how it's done.

I wrapped most of the presents today. I've got a couple more to go and then we're done shopping! Woohoo!! I'm excited about it. I'm going to clean like crazy this week to get the house ready for Christmas Eve with my mother and siblings.

Alrighty- I better get to sleep now. Later kids!

December 18, 2009

{Well at least we got started}

I should be asleep right now, but I went to bed at 8:30pm and this is what happens when I do that. I wake up around 11pm and am up until 3am. Blah! I am not going to be fun to be around tomorrow. But anyway- on with the posting!

D and I did a little Christmas shopping tonight. We got most of it done I think, there are still a few things I want to get and we have to hit up wal-mart at some point and get more for Bug because we couldn't find too much anywhere else. Annoying. So far this is where we're at:

Drama Queen

Activity trunk (complete with beads, stamps, ect.)
2 barbies
Package of 3 little ballerina pandas that go with Barbies
Purple fuzzy slippers
Crayons (stocking)
Princess Coloring books
Princess "flute" (stocking)
Princess stamp set (stocking)
Pink bracelets (stocking)
Sword (stocking)

G
Police Helecopter
Nerf Shotgun
Extra "ammo"
Toy Story stamp set (stocking)
Hulk poster
Spiderman poster
Iron Man poster
Sword (stocking)
D also went in Dollar Tree and got a bunch of stuff that I haven't seen so I don't know what else there is lol.

Bug
Toy Store Tray
ABC's Color book
123's Color book
Fishing set bath toy
Mini potato head
Guns (otherwise there would be fighting over G's *sigh*)

T
Pool stick
Pool accessories

I still have to get a little something for T for his stocking even though D says it's not a big deal. We usually spend a ton of money on Christmas for him, but last year we got him all this different awesome stuff (things he wanted) and he hasn't touched any of it since he opened it. So we're not spending a ton on him this year. I also still need to go to Barnes & Nobel and look for a journal for Drama Queen and G wants a Sponge Bob operation game lol. So I thought I'd go ahead and pick that up for him. Bug obviously needs a few more things and some stocking stuffers (depending on what D got that I don't know about). I don't want to see anyone disappointed is my deal. I hate it when kids feel disappointed.

In other news, tomorrow is my great-grandmothers funeral. I was informed that because there are so many people attending that I should be there 8:45am even though it doesn't start until 10am. Since I went to bed early, I was not made aware of this fact until 11pm. Super fun. I have to make sure D doesn't leave for work in the morning because he's watching Bug for me. I also have to pick up my mother. I went and bought a new shirt and new pants today, I think they look nice. I did a better job of picking out my clothes this time around than when my grandpa died. Is it odd that I haven't cried? I know I'll miss her, I know I'll probably sob like a baby tomorrow. But as of right now, I'm not grieving or anything. Is that normal?? I didn't with my grandpa either though I guess, I let it all out at the funeral, broke down into tears and couldn't stop crying for anything. I don't know. If I never went to another funeral again, it would be too soon. This is 3 in 5yrs. I think that's enough now.

In lighter conversation (because that was a downer..) I watched Julie & Julia the other night! Lindsey was right, it's great! It made me super hungry though lol. All that awesome food she makes is so delicious looking that it actually inspired me to cook. I made scrambled eggs. Don't hate, I love scrambled eggs ;). The story line itself was amusing also, I am a big Meryl Streep fan though. I really don't think I've seen a movie that she played in that I didn't like. Can you think of a bad one? Anyway- it's really good, go rent it!

A movie I do not reccomend (unless you're striving to waste 2hrs of your life you will never get back) is Inglorious Basterds with Brad Pitt. This movie was so painful to watch that I couldn't even make it through. I got about 20min. in and left the living room to go take a bath. D was still watching it. When I got back to the living room half an hour later it still sucked and D was falling asleep. *sigh* So don't even bother with this one folks. It's boring as hell, not funny, not good acting, there is just nothing good about it.

OK, I think I've taken up enough of your time. I should be getting to sleep now, it's almost 2am. Thanks for reading if you made it this far.

{You shall be missed}

My great-grandmother passed yesterday. There is not a day that goes by that she won't be missed. Not a day will go by that someone won't mention her name or let her memory cross our minds.

She was diagnosed with kidney cancer a year ago, expected to live a short few months she exceeded everyones hopes. Chemo was not an option, it had spread too fast for that, the doctors said. At one point we had thought she had beaten it, there was no more cancer in kidney, later we found out it had begun filling her lungs instead of her kidney. *sigh* She spent the last couple months at home, surrounded by those who love her and whom she loved.

I wish I had a pic on here to show ya'll :(.

R.I.P Gram.

December 14, 2009

{My OCD is kicking in..}

I hate, hate, hate, not having a plan for big holidays. I'm obsessed with planning! I love it! Oddly enough, I'm not as organized as a planner should be though (we will blame this on 3 small people and 1 giant one). It is absolutely killing me that we haven't started Christmas shopping yet. I am one of those people that likes to start shopping right away because I know first hand how waiting will lessen your chances of getting what you want (or more importantly what your kids want) and no one wants to see a disappointed face on Christmas morning. Well, I don't at least. I had so many craptastic Christmases growing up that I really never want my kids to experience that pain. Since D informs me that we will not be shopping until this weekend (I know, kind of cutting it close to the deadline there dear), I have been busy online trying to figure out what I want to get the kids. It's rough shopping for these kids because they don't need anything as far as toys go, but obviously you can't just get a 6 and 7yr old socks and underwear lol. I guess we'll see. I have a few ideas as to what to get each kid. G has a birthday on the 30th also so it's kind of a pain in the butt buying for Christmas and having something left for his birthday too. Oh well. I think I'm going to get Bug some bath toys (he loves taking a bath) and some color wonder paper (since he loves to draw on my walls and furniture). G is deffinately getting an air plane with little men to go with it. Drama Queen wants a princess coloring book and I'm half thinking about some American Girl stuff (you can get it at barnes and nobel). I'm also thinking about pulling out my Molly doll for her (I got her years ago and she is in great condition). I think she is finally at a place where I feel comfortable letting her play with her while supervised. Good decision? We shall see I guess. T is always hard to buy for because his grandmother buys him everything he wants. It's sort of a pain because then we have nothing to get him. D gave him the guitar for his birthday (which is the 22nd). Blah.

As far as Christmas dinner goes, I am hosting this year for my mother. Her place is far too small for us all to fit comfortably and my sister won't invite our moms fiance. It's a big bunch of drama. But anyway- I've got the menu planned out (see? I'm a planner). I want to have veggies and dip set out for when people arrive. The main menu is; ham, green bean casserole, mac & cheese (cause I know the kids will eat it), stuffing, mashed potatoes, and corn. My mother is also supplying the deviled eggs (because I've yet to meet anyone who makes them like she does!). My sister is supposed to bring a desert but I'm also making a couple so that we have plenty and just in case she doesn't bring one. I already no bake cheese cake and cherry pie filling, and I'm going to make some kind of cake I think. I am super excited to be hosting. I've been busy downloading Christmas songs (new and old) to have playing in the background. I am planning on removing our coffee table (chucking it out the backdoor is more like it) and adding our ottoman so that there is a little more seating. The week before I'm gonna clean like crazy and bleach down everything. I know I hate walking into a dirty house for a meal, I wouldn't expect my family to eat on dirty things. I'm also going to invest in paper plates and silverware because we don't have enough and I don't want to do all those dishes anyway lol. So yay! It's pretty much all planned unless someone can think of some other yummy dish I should make or some other Christmasy thing I could do :). Lay it on me!

My mother and her fiance are also bringing his 11yr old daughter and 6yr old son. So we'll have to buy for them plus my nephew Monkey (not his real name...his nickname that I gave him). No clue what to get the boys but I know what I'm getting the girl. :) Yay me!

{The boringness}

I have been trying fix my layout for the last 2 days to no avail. I can't get the main element to shift down and it's too close to my left side bar. Annoying.

G is sick with strep again, his pedi informed me that he needs to see an ENT doctor because he has it so often. I'm a little bit nervous about it. He's staying with my grandparents the rest of this week so that he's not spreading it to the kids here. Poor kid. I hope they can figure out something to do so it doesn't keep coming back. I hate to see him so miserable :(.

We also went to the kids Christmas program on Monday. Unfortunately G wasn't able to participate because they sent him home sick (for a 100.2 temp), but the drama queen did go and did great! They don't do traditional songs anymore though, which kind of annoys me. I understand that they can't do ones about Jesus/God but whatever happened to Santa Clause is Coming to Town or I Saw Mommy kissing Santa Clause? Those were the ones I sang in grade school. I just don't see the harm I guess. If they're worried about offending someone who doesn't do Santa then why not do a couple Hanukkah songs or Kwanzaa. Maybe it's just my open mindedness. I wish they would have though. I also wish someone had taken pictures of me when I did my programs so I could show you all how awesome it was lol.

But here is the drama queen's song (they did 3 but they take forever to upload lol). I have no clue why there is no sound, cause my camera takes it :-/.

Alrighty- I better go. See? Nothing exciting to report.

{Ornaments, Lights, & other fun stuff}

We are all aware of my love for dogs, especially mine, I've been making dog treats for the last year now, I love it. But it's not making me all that much money. Which frustrates me because my dogs love them and I know that if I could just get a good review for them on 1 site, then I could sell a ton of them. I'm sending some of them to my Secret Santa on CP. I hope she likes them.

Upon browsing the internet (glorious as it is) I stumbled upon the recipe for salt dough ornaments. I made a few for my 2 and then made a listing for them on Etsy. I figured I might sell one or 2. I expected no more than that. But, I sold 3! One was even sold to a friend from CP. Yay! So I'm hoping that I'll sell a few more before Christmas and I can have a little more money for a good gift for D. He gave me that camera and he is always getting me such awesome things for my birthday and Christmas. I want to get him something he really wants. Which he informed me comes in the form of the R.A. Salvatore novel. Anyway- with any luck I'll sell some more and have enough for that book plus maybe help out with buying for the other kids in the family. Lets keep our fingers crossed shall we? :)

My Ark. aunt surprised us all the weekend after Thanksgiving by coming up for a visit! So awesome! She brought with her my uncle Ray, cousins Ericka (with her daughter Rylee) and Kelsie (with her hubby Luke and their son Clayton). She also brought her new wire haired dachshund :). You know I loved that. We all went to the Festival of Lights Parade. It was the same as last year, but the kids from Ark. didn't know that and the little ones didn't either.

Random: D got me an awesome pair of boot slippers from wal-mart today. Loves it.

Alrighty- I guess I should get off here now and finish watching The Girls Next Door finale and the premeire of Holly World.

December 3, 2009

{But it fits in there!}

Oh my dear sweet Bug. How I wish you would hurry up and pass this horrible terrible 2 faze. I have had it up to here with finding that you got into things while I was in the shower or doing the dishes or hell even when I lock you out of the bathroom long enough to pee alone. Apparently your sticky fingers are my punishment for needing 5 seconds to my self. Clearly I am a horrible mother for this. I understand. But really, it's time to stop now. Grow up! Look at me! Stay out of the stocking stuffers! Those are not for you! I'm sure the drama queen and G will be so happy to see that the little stamp kit I bought has been opened and is now missing paper and stamps. Super fun! Or how about the recorder that I bought for drama queen that you insist on playing with even though I've put it up a million times and warned you not to touch it! Clearly you have your fathers hearing and the only thing you heard me say was touch it. I am not amused Bug, not at all. But today was the last straw! I'm shipping you off to military school (they have that for toddlers right?). I will let the pictures speak for themselves.
The VCR in the toy room. Please excuse the sharpie.
