{My Dreams Have Been CRUSHED!!}

Nick Carter is ENGAGED!! I died a little bit when I saw this news pop up on my twitter feed. I'm just saying..lol. Suuure I've gotten married already and suuure I knew I was never going to meet him. But come on I've only been in love with the man since I was 13! *Sigh* *Tear*

But I'm super happy for them :)

{Home Schoolin' Again}

I think we should all remember 2 years ago when I decided not to enroll G back in our district (at the time) because they were refusing to give him the help he needed. In fact, they were going to hold him back a year and not give him any extra help at all. Which pissed me off. There is a reason they are one of the worst schools in the state (probably the country). Anyway- when we started in the new district last year I was very pleased with his teacher. I think she reminded him a lot of his grandmother and so he respected her quite a bit. I was so proud of how well he progressed. By the end of the year he was reading a little under his grade level and he was doing his work. I couldn't think of one bad thing to say about her at all.

This year I got a different vibe from his teacher. She didn't give off that "I want to help" feeling. I don't know, maybe it was just mother intution but I knew she was going to cause problems, and she did, right off the bat. She failed him on his spelling test because he used capital letters. Yeah. All the words were spelled right, but he got an F. I was pissed. So I told her not to do it anymore. I don't think she liked me after that. But he had such a rough time last year that I didn't want that kind of thing making him not want to try. Who cares if he uses capital letters? The words were spelled right. Still makes me mad when I think about it.

Anyway- a bunch of things unfolded after Christmas that I do not want to get into. They had me believing my kid was completely in the wrong, I later found out that is not the case at all. His behavior was a result of they (she) were speaking to him and treating him. He has never been a "kid" really. We speak to him like he's an adult and we expect him to behave in a certain way. He's pretty laid back and mellow when it comes to anything. Can he be a pain? Yeah, he's 10 lol. As a result of all the crap being dealt and the BS we started calling on the school (the teacher, principal, and superintendent were all backing each other up), D and I made the decision to home school the rest of the year and he could test back in next fall. He would be at a new school and if that didn't work out, we'd home school until he was ready to be at school. He's going to get an education no matter what obviously.

We signed him back up for Time 4 Learning which he loves, and I have plenty of friends to help me through the rest of the year with things he can do. We think we might have him do it through summer also so that he can maybe be a little ahead of the class next year. Or at least know what to expect as far as work? I don't know.

Another upside to this arrangement is that Little Boy wants to work on the computer too. We're signing him up for ABC Learning and he will do Pre-K and Kindergarten work. :) I'm pretty excited about it. Anything to help my boys get on the right track for next year is a good thing for us.

So that's what's going on with us...what's happening with you?

{Shut up Brain!!}

Don't you hate it when you're tired all.day.long but when you lay your head down on that nice soft pillow, your brain won't shut up so you can catch some much needed Z's? I do. It's happening to me as I type this. I'm tempted to knock back some Nyquil. But then I'd probably over sleep the doctors appointment I made for G for tomorrow. Why do I make doctors appointments so early? True true, 1130am is closer to noon than morning, but whatever. On a day that I don't have to be up, I don't want to be up. Such is life I suppose.

Drum practice before church at Dayspring United Methodist NAF.

All day during church all I could think was Good heavens please don't let me fall asleep in front of all these people. I had decided to sit in the front row (not where this picture was taken). I almost did at one point. I just could not keep my eyes open. It probably had something to do with D kicking me all night hogging up my bed. Which he will tell you didn't happen when we had the California King but let me tell you, it did.

We managed to get the ceiling almost completely painted on Saturday. Well, I say we like it wasn't just me. D came in in the last few minutes and told me I'd done it wrong and took over. Then he decided after about 15min. of complaining that he'd had enough and "we" were done for the day. Whatever. It looks way better white than that greenish khaki color. I don't have any pictures yet. I'll do another post about it when we get the crown molding up.

Also on Saturday The Teenager and I decided to head to the theater to see Mama. We went to the 9:20 show and I decided to go the comfy route :)

I've decided that if I ever go for a casual movie night again (meaning it's not a date night), I'm totally wearing PJ pants and a hoodie. Screw getting dressed up. I sat in a dark theater. Which reminds me, there was a guy that sat down about 2 seats down from me, who smelled so bad of cigarette smoke I almost spritzed him with Katy Perry perfume. Omg! And then he got up in the middle of the movie to go smoke. I was not a happy camper. But anyway- what what I talking about? Oh right, the movie was pretty good. Creepy in a few places but not really worth the money we paid to see it (which was ridiculous just so you're aware! Holy crap!). I didn't like the ending. I thought it was stupid. In the end it was a renter but it was a good little girl date :-).

I'm not pregnant. The Teenager keeps telling me that cause I'm gassy and can't get full, I'm knocked up. DISLIKE!! I am not. No more babies coming out of me missy!

Hmmm...is there anything else I would like to ramble on about? *thinks* I guess not. so I'll leave you, at 11:30pm to read my book. Oh! That's something to talk about. I bought a book today at walmart for $9. Honestly I don't buy books anymore on a whim cause the last time I did, I didn't read it..oops. But this one is 2 books in 1, both by Alyson Noel called Keeping Secrets. I'm only 3 pages in but so far so good. I'm sure I'll do a little review on it when I'm done :-). What are you guys reading?

OK...now I'm done :-) Good night folks!

{A work in progress Pt 1}

Almost 3 years after we moved in and I'm just now getting to paint the living room. *sigh* We're so...broke lol. But here it is so far.

The Befores:

The living room.

The built in's the are right outside the bedroom door & in the living room.

Afters:
Painted orange with brown floors, trim, and built in's.

The livingroom all torn up while painting lol. I love it!

 The new couch! Thank you Costco!!

The trim isn't done yet, we went to buy the rest of it and it was all gone. Annoying. And the ceiling is being painted white tomorrow. I hate painting at this point lol. I just want the damn room done. We'll still have to get the rods for the sheers (windows) and the crown molding (white also). It's coming together quite nicely though and I'm glad that it's finally ours. Before it was just a house we lived in and someone else decorated it. Now it's mine, ours, it's something I did. Ya know? I love it :).

I'll post more updates as we get things done :). I'm hoping the white ceiling will brighten up the room and make the ceiling a little higher (even though they're already 10ft).

{Ulta Target & Rue21 Haul!}

D and I got our returns back! So guess who got to go shopping? ME!! *Squeals with excitement*

The teenager, drama queen, and I set off around noon today and didn't get back until around 5:30. We hit up all the major stores. I didn't buy a whole lot from any one store. I like to make smaller purchases I guess. Anyway- here's what I got.

From Rue21 I got 2 shirts (both on clearance). The first one is a silky half sleeve with studs on the pockets. The other is a sheer long sleeve with a rib cage and heart. I loved them both!

At Ulta (one of my favorite stores) I got only 2 things. The Urban Decay Naked Basics pallet and Big Sexy Hair root plumper (or something like that). I've wanted to get the Naked Basics for a long time! I'm excited to try it out!

From Bath & Body Works I got an item from the Paris Amour line, body butter. I also picked up some Rose salve because I've been wanting to try it for a long time. Then I grabbed some car spray that smells like fresh linen. Should make for a smelly good car.

Then we stopped at Target where I picked up some top coat, repurchased my Revlon Color Stay foundation, and got myself a set of Sonia Kashuk brushes :). I also managed to spend the rest of my gift card from D's grandma. I'm a happy camper.

But the fun doesn't stop there kids! We went to TJMaxx last and I found a new bag!
(Excuse the clothes on the floor...I'm lazy) My new Steve Madden bag!! I am in love with it! There was a Michael Kors one that I wanted so friggin' bad but I couldn't see spend $119 on it :(. This one retails for $100 and I got it for $50!! I'm so excited about it!

So there you go, my haul. See ya'll later!

{Puppy Adventures!}

We have lived in this town for 2 years and today (of all days) I chose to go to the dog park. It's freezing out. My phone tells me it's 30*. I'm shivering just thinking about it! But Boss and Prissy have been cooped up all winter and really needed a release. So off we went.

Boss found a fun spot to begin his adventure right out of the gate!

Prissy chose to run between me and daddy for most of the trip. That seems the most fun!

She was so excited to run that she could hardly contain herself!

And of course they took turns peeing on every single thing in the fenced area. Including the fence.

"You can not have all the mommy attention Boss Hogg!!"-- as she smashed into him.

Boss ended his adventure in mommy's coat :-) He was one shivering little booger.

So there you have it. Adventures in puppy land :-). Who doesn't love to see pics of a sweet little puppy? OK OK!! They're not puppies, he's 8 and she's 1 but they're still just puppies ;-)

{My kids names are awesome!}

I have been naming my kids since I was 13. I think most girls do this. I had a male and female name picked out when I was in high school (no idea what those were now lol), but the time I actually got pregnant with my first child, I'd changed my mind.

Gaige (G) Alexander was my first. That was not his name. For about 7mo (because I was on the fence about adoption for the first couple months) he was Nickolas Alexander. How did I come up with that name? Isn't it obvious? Nick Carter & A.J. McLean 2 out of 5 Backstreet Boys ;-). When I went into labor his SD (sperm donor) and I were walking the halls of the hospital trying to jump start full on labor and he said, "What about Gaige?" I liked the name, I wasn't in love with it. But I gave it to him anyway. I thought at the least there wouldn't 10 other little boys with his name in his class right? But I stuck with Alexander. I was going to get a Backstreet Boy in there somewhere. So it stuck. And he is a "Gaige". I couldn't imagine him being any other name.

Owen (little boy) Michael Dwight; the baby. I concealed his name for 9mo. I called him junior. No one knew my plans for his name at all. At first though I was going to name him Carter Dwight (since Nick didn't work out the first time around lol). But D said "Hell NO!" Blah. So I decided "hey, why not get familial with it?" I chose David (after D) Michael Dwight. Yeah. But during labor, when the nurse asked me what I was gonna name him I said "Owen" out of nowhere. So that was his name. Michael is my father. Dwight is my grandfather who passed of cancer a few years ago. I knew that no matter what his name was, Dwight would be in it some how. I could not name this baby without including him. No way. And since I was the one filling out the papers, Owen Michael Dwight it was.

Dawn Marie (Drama Queen) is named after D's mother who passed when he was a kid.

Tristen (T) Nathanial Dean was named after Tristan & Isolde which was a movie D loved at the time I guess. This is obviously 2nd hand story because I wasn't there lol. Nathanial I have no idea where that came from, but I know Dean is after his mothers father.

So there you go. That's how my kids got their names :)

{A letter to my daughter}

Dear Drama Queen,

Although I did not birth you and came into your life when you were barely 2 years old, I feel as though the last 8 years of wiping your nose/face/butt/hands/ect. have given me the right to call myself your mother. And as your mother I would like to give you some sound advice as you navigate your preteen years. Which, by the way, have come on far too fast and I am not ready to acknowledge them. I may or may not insist you stay 10. I do not know. We'll cross that bridge when we come to it :).

Now, there are things that a young lady, such as yourself, should know about the world. And as your mother I feel it's my duty to give you the information to present yourself in the right light to not only boys but to other human beings. So I have compiled a list of not really rules, just advices. Here we go.

1. Real friends will tell you to your face what others say behind your back. And they'll set a rumor straight in a heart beat.

2. If a boy doesn't call, forget him. He's not worth your time.

3. If you have a gut feeling something isn't right, listen to it. Chances are you're right.

4. When it comes to make-up, less is always more. No need to walk around looking like an '80's reject. Put down the purple eye shadow.

5. You can have more than 1 best friend at a time.

6. At some point, you're going to get heart broken. Weather it's by a boy or by a friend or both, it'll be OK.

7. Never let someone make you feel like you're worth less than you are. Ever.

8. There is more to life than having a boyfriend. They're not always all they're cracked up to be.

9. Come to me with any problem or question you might have about anything. It's my job. And if I can't answer it, we can call your grandmother. Chances are she can :).

10. A rule of thumb for fashion is simple, leave a little something to imagination. No one thinks muffin tops, back rolls, and lumpy thighs are attractive. Dress for your body type, not the type of body you want.

11. Be happy, and if you're not happy, make a change. You are the only one who can control where your life takes you. Make the right choices.

12. Be polite. We taught you your manners, and I would hope that you use them in your every day life.

13. Even when you don't feel like you should, hold your head up.

14. Don't do something just because your friends are doing it. You're not a sheep. Be your own person.

15. Dropping F-bombs in the middle of walmart, does not make you look like an adult. It makes people want to wash your mouth out with soap.

16. Never 'expect' someone to do something for you or give you something. That makes you a spoiled brat. And I did not raise you to be that way.

17. Be grateful for everything you have. There are far more people who have a whole lot less.

18. You do not chase boys, boys chase you. Let them work for it. If they want to spend time with you bad enough, they'll let you know.

19. Never blow off plans with your girlfriends because a boy asks you out. Your friendships will be there long after that boy moves on to another girl. If he's worth your time, he'll understand this.

20. Be a Hepburn in a Hilton world. Class is far more appealing than trash, no matter what the media says.

So there you go Drama Queen. Just a few things I thought you should know.

Love,
Mom.
